Chef Gans has been teaching Culinary Arts at Staples High School, in Westport, CT since the fall of 1999. In 2002, she was nominated for Teach-of-the-Year in by Gloria Rakovic, then principal. Since then she has received numerous accolades for her teaching and curriculum. She has also served as faculty mentor to the Culinary Arts Club and the Asian Cultural Society and teaches the ‘over-enrolled’ Culinary Camp each summer. As a teacher, she strongly advocates the development of inquisitive, motivated, proactive and inventive students and maintains a philosophy that values mentorship and positive reinforcement.
